Weathered – Handmade Paper Coptic-Bound Notebook

Description

Weathered is a unique notebook from the Beached Collection, inspired by the hues, textures, and bits of objects the water has washed ashore and rearranged.

The covers are original collages built from layers of Wild Root Studio handmade paper, torn and cut into individual shapes and layered together to create each composition. Colours, textures, and edges overlap much like fragments along a shoreline are gathered and rearranged by the water.

Each notebook is Coptic-bound by hand, leaving the stitching visible along the spine and allowing the book to open comfortably and lie relatively flat.

There are 50 sheets of blank 80gsm paper inside, giving you 100 writing pages to fill with notes, sketches, ideas, lists, or anything else you choose.

  No two notebooks in the Beached Collection are alike. Each cover is individually composed from torn and layered handmade-paper shapes, making every combination of colour, texture and form unique.

  The handmade paper

  The paper used in the collage covers begins as recycled paper, transformed back into pulp and pulled by hand, one sheet at a time. Once dry, the sheets are torn, cut into shapes, and layered to create the collage covers.

  The result is a notebook that brings together two very different things: a practical book to write in, and a one-of-a-kind handmade collage on the cover.

  Beached is about fragments — pieces washed ashore, weathered and rearranged, then gathered together to become something new.
